Application of Content

The teacher understands and demonstrates how to connect concepts and engage learners in the subject matter. The teacher does so in a way that fosters critical thinking, creativity, and collaborative problem solving. The teacher seeks to make connections to relevant, real world issues that are meaningful to the student in order to encourage empathy and active learning.

The standard can be displayed in a multitude of ways but it is critical that the teacher provide their students with meaningful learning experiences while do so.

I demonstrate this standard by providing my students with activity based learning opportunities that have real world connections. The photo displays a group of students involved in small group learning with problems based on measurement. This helps them relate mathematical concepts to physical experiences.

Another way I demonstrate this standard is providing my students    with collaborative learning experiences. By fostering an atmosphere where everyone is a teacher as well as a student, learning becomes more inter-personal and in an enriched platform that facilitates whole student growth.

A third way I demonstrate this standard is by providing game based learning activities that connect the content in a manner that is creative and fun. Students learn by their own experience but also by observation of others. This allows students to be engaged the entire time of the learning activity and                                     maximizes the opportunity for learning.
