Learning Differences

The teacher understands individual and cultural differences as well as the community around them. They provide students with inclusive learning environments with high standards.

Learners acquire knowledge and process information in a variety of ways. Instruction should reflect those differences, accounting for stage development and learning styles. It is important that an instructor familiarize themselves with these differences and incorporate them throughout instructional delivery.

I demonstrate this standard by utilizing small  collaborative learning activities.  These types of activities allow a student to express themselves in a less imposing setting and give insight into how they learn.

I also demonstrate this standard by  using manipulative learning activities. These allow tactile and the bodily kinesthetic learners an outlet and opportunity to learn in a modality compatible with their strengths.

Another way this standard is  applied, concerns ELL students and students with Specific Learning disabilities. Ipads with headsets are provided during testing, this provides a read aloud for the exam.  This scaffolding results in minimal separation or impact on the class  as a whole.
